The Case of the Robber

One night a foggy mist was outside and the clock struck twelve in the town of Castle Grove. Ding, ding, ding… All twelve strikes echoed off into the misty night. A lady was up late one night waiting for her husband to get home. Finally she got tiered of waiting and called her husband. The operator’s voice came through and said “I’m sorry but this line is busy.”

“I don’t care I’m worried about my husband. Send me through.”

The operator sighed, “Fine wait one moment please.” Ten seconds past by. Finally she spoke again, “Calling.” Ring, ring… “Hello…Hello,” she called out but she only heard voices talking.

          “Tonight?” asked one voice.

“Yes, it has to be done.”

“Fine but we split any money that is in that house fifty-fifty.”

“No way, I’m the one that came up with this plan.”

“Fine,” said the one who talked first. “Besides I have my own robbing to do.”

“Alright,” said the other “More for me.”

The girl hung up. “Oh no,” she said to herself. “I have to call someone about this.” She called the police.

          An officer answered, “Hello.”

“Yes, officer I heard there was going to be a robbery. I don’t know where or what time, but there’s going to be a robbery.”

“Well I’m sure the crime is not going to be around you.”

          “But…”

          “Good night lady.”

“I need to call my husband now.” She called him. The operator answered.

“Yes operator, there’s going to be a robbery and I wanted to get in touch with him.” She heard breathing and it wasn’t her. “Operator there’s

Some one on the other line and it isn’t me.” The phone went dead. Suddenly

The door to her room burst open. All she saw was a man in black and that’s all she saw again.

Ring, ring… Ring, ring… The phone surprised Stan and he hit his head on the top of the bunk bed. “Ow.” Ring, Ring… “Hello,” he moaned as he got up.

“Yes, detective Stan, this is detective Stook.”

“Hey what’s going on old buddy?”

          “Aw… you know the usual.”

          “That bad huh.”

“Ha, ha, very funny, listen there was a strange break-in last night. All we found was a dead body and a knife. The house was pretty messed up. We need you down here ASAP.”

“Alright I’ll be there in ten.”

          “See you then, bye.”

          “See you.”

When Stan got down the premises was all blocked off. He went upstairs and found Stooks. “So what do we got?” Stan asked.

“Well right now the knife is the only evidence we have.”

“Let’s take it to my lab and try to find prints.”

When they got to the office they went and scanned the knife.

          “Crud,” said Stooks.

“What?” asked Stan.

“Instead of giving me one suspect’s it gave me six suspects.”

“Well that’s better than twenty suspects.”

“Yeah.”

“What are the names?”

“The names are Dale, Snares, Rob, Kyle, Slik, and Terrance.”

“I’ll take Dale, Snares, Rob,” said Stan.”

“I’ll go take Terrance, Slik, and Kyle.”

Stan got information from people on where they lived. Fortunately, Snare moved to Russia last year so that was one person off the list. More good news came from another resident saying Dale was visiting his
